McFarlene Toys Gets Deal to Make Simpson Toys
Todd McFarlene, the mind behind McFarlene Toys, just signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to create the toys for the upcoming Simpsons Movie. “In early summer, Tempe-based McFarlane Toys will bring America’s most-watched family to 3-D life through meticulous detail and voice-chip technology featuring dialog from the film.”
McFarlene knows that making figurines of The Simpsons will be hugely successful with the upcoming movie, but he also says that, “Everybody knows the Simpsons, even the conservative moms, it may be offensive to some, but if you like ‘The Simpsons,’ how could any of it be offensive?” So movie aside, America has already been emersed in The Simpsons now for 18 seasons. To put it bluntly the toys won’t be hard to sell.
“McFarlane would not disclose terms of the deal, but he did say the 6-inch Simpsons movie toys — which include Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa and Maggie, and some specialty sets — will sell for $12.99 to $19.99. ” Pretty good price for everything that will go into them.
